Savage or Other Pre-fit to M0ossberg 100 ATR with Barrel Nut

Flouncer

What the heck it works for me !!
From 2102 . .. . ..

" mossberg and savage are not interchangable mossberg is .875 28 tpi . the mossberg mvp rifles just ..."

Doesn't state what the Savage Barrel specifications are.

What if any commercially available barrels are available that are direct drop ins for a non gunsmith barrel change for the Mossberg 100 ATR .243 size action ?

If no off the shelf savage, then can't a barrel maker provide a Barrel thread type barrel for this weapon ? i.e Douglas, Pac Nor, Shilen, etc ? Wish to upgrade from the ultra thin light fluted 22-inch stock barrel to a heavier contour at least 24/26 inches long. - Thanks !!

Savage is I believe 1.055-20---I dont know if any barrel maker makes drop ins for a mossberg, but they could and some probably would if they thought there was enough demand. Check their websites. A gunsmith could do it but dont know what they would charge.

Hoz53 is correct . Any compentent smith could thread and chamber .
The Mossberg 243 ATR isnt .875-28 . I have the specs in the shop if you want them . Is your mag housing welded to the receiver ? One of the 2 , 243s I rebarreled was actually crudely welded . That one was roll marked LIGHTING. The 30-06 ATR s weren't welded . Strange !

Thanks Hoz and Gmac. Looking into this for my brother who is new to this. I have a great GS locally and have sourced barrels from PcNor and Douglas before. The Barrel nut is new to me but a few things HAVE chnaged since the crest and date on my 1912 Mauser. Cheers !!
