Savage Model 12VLP-S with AccuTrigger

I have never taken my Savage Model 12VLP-S with AccuTrigger "bolt" apart for cleaning. Can someone please explain how to disassemble and reassemble my bolt. Thanks for your assistance. Art

art, there is an allen head on the very back of the bolt. turn it counter-clockwise this takes the tension off of the main spring the rest is pretty well self explanitory. hope this helps, treeman

Don't take the spring off the firing pin if you don't have to. Get some brake kleen or spray degreaser and clean the firing pin. Then re-lubricate it. It is important to re-lubricate the cocking ramp, cocking piece, cocking piece pin, and cocking piece sleeve. I recomend high temperature grease.

If you take the firing pin appart don't let it fly apart into your eye. You may have some cocking and timing issues if you take it appart. A mentor can be a big help.

This might help.

Remove the bolt assembly screw.
Slide the cocking piece sleeve back.
Remove the cocking piece pin.
Remove the firing pin assembly.
Push out the bolthead retaining pin.
Remove the bolthead, front baffle and spring washer.

Reassemble in the reverse order.
