Savage model 12 extraction issues

Well, old problems seem to follow me again.

4 years ago I bought a Savage model 12 F/V. Had extraction issues about 30% of the time.

Pulls out the case but will drop it or not eject it out of the receiver. I ordered a new after market extractor and larger steel ball that goes under the extractor.

Can't exactly remember who I got it from but the small bag has a label with Kinney's part #ss-2401.

Now this kit really did not resolve my problem as I still have issues with not ejecting the cases.

So now I just purchases another Savage 12 in 6.5 CM and I have the same problem with this one too.

Does anyone have a kit that works???

You replaced the extractor, not the ejector.
The extractor pulls the case from the chamber.
The ejector, well, ejects the case.
Pull the bolt from the action.
On the side of the bolt head is a small hole for the ejector retaining pin.
Press down on the ejector & drive the pin out.
Clean, lube with WD40 & reinstall.

will try and not to doubt you but 4 years ago everyone was saying that the extractor was loosing it grip on the case and causing to drop off the bolt face before it clears the ejection port.

They recommended replacing the extractor with a new re-cut extractor that will hold the case onto the bolt face until the empty brass clears the chamber and then eject out.

Don't take much to do what you suggest and what the heck it can't hurt!

Had the same problem. Bought an Improved Extractor kit from Sharp Shooter Supply in Ohio and problem solved

The Kinney kit worked great in mine !
