Savage model 12 bolt rebuild ?

For extraction and ejection issues, try this:
Although a .140 extractor ball will usually help a lot, the other parts would be good to keep handy.

Might want to replace the firing pin if you're having ignition issues:
It'll take a little fiddling to get the protrusion correct(~.040)

They say that changing the bolt head does not change head space but on a recent 223 of mine it did--I had to re set the barrel there was about .009 diff in the two identical bolt heads
YMMV

periotic light strikes and misfires
"Dead Horse" thang but, if it was me, I would be DOUBLE checking my brass first!! If the fired brass will re chamber without too much resistance, neck size only, reload and fire. And when you resize, make SURE you're NOT pushing the shoulders back too far and YOU creating the issue.
Sized to short, case gets pushed forward in the chamber by the firing pin and you get FTF and soft strikes. Also, primers try to back out of their pockets, get cratered and pierced. Might could also use a bushing in the bolt head. (?) And make sure the brass is soft enough to move where you want it by annealing.

Honest question- what would rebuilding the head do?
You could check firing pin protrusion, it's very easy to adjust on a Savage without needing any new parts.

We need more information.

Is this a new rifle that has always had light strikes/FTF?

Is it an older rifle that fires some/most rounds ok with the occasional issue?

Handloads we assume?

Is rebuilding the head an effort to "restore" proper headspace?

Has there been some kind of event- blown primer, too hot load etc that makes us think the head has been damaged?
