I'm have a savage model 12 in .223 and thinking about rebarreling it to .17 hornet would i need to change the bolt face
ThanksSkip the extra work and do a 17/221 Fireball.
Alrighty thank youNot only will you need a different bolt face, but you will find feeding problematic
Just my 2 cents but if your looking to build something small caliber, I would look for a used CZ 527I'm have a savage model 12 in .223 and thinking about rebarreling it to .17 hornet would i need to change the bolt face

I had the same idea and I have actually aquired the Barrel already, you can get the bolt face from PTG (pacific tool and guage). Feeding will be an issue as they mentioned already, but my solution to that is to set this gun up as a single feed with a shot follower you can get one from Midway. I may not complete my build, it was just a wild hair and I have other projects, so it is on the back burner behind others but it will be a cool rifle. I agree, if you can find a used CZ that is the best way to go.I'm have a savage model 12 in .223 and thinking about rebarreling it to .17 hornet would i need to change the bolt face
