Savage model 12 - 22 hornet feed issues

Building a 22 hornet in a left hand Savage model 12. Had PTG build the proper bolt head. Have chambered a Pac-nor barrel and fitted to receiver. Gun shoots and ejects fine. Can not get it to feed. Have bend mag to allow cartridge to be held in place. And Have inserted a Savage 23-D mad ( 22 hornet into the original mag (223), still will not feed.
Cartridge needs to be lifted up considerably to fit into the very small chamber.
Any suggestions????

With that taper and rim i doubt theres anything you can do with a 223 mag to ever feed. It would have to have internal guides that kick the bullet up like a 10-22 mag. You may be able to somehow adapt a 77-22 hornet mag if you gotta have a repeater

I built one long ago , couldn't make it feed , rechambered opened bolt , to 218 bee , better but still not 100 . I just ended up cutting it off and doing it in 5.7x28 .

standard hornet
