This rifle is brand new and the inside of the barrel is totally black. Is this normal or is it some kind of coating ?

The inside of new barrels gets blued at the same time the outside gets blued. However, there will be powder residue from the rds fired during test fireing.

does the bluing wear off after firing ?

Your rifle was test fired at the factory and not cleaned. Some have a rust preventative in the barrel but it’s usually brown.

Yes, the bluing gets worn off over time but don't ask how long because I don't remember. Let's say years depending on rd count and number of cleanings.

Bluing is a slightly different color than powder fouling.
