Savage MK II BV ?

Does anyone have this 22 rifle that can tell me about its accuracy, pro's and con's ?

I use to have one a few years ago & some friends have them. All of ours shot pretty good once we fed them what they like. We would commonly keep them inside of 2" @100yds on decent evenings pretty consistently, with some wallet groups thrown in once in a while. I campaigned mine when I started shooting IR50 years ago & it would shoot in the high 230's/low 240's regularly.
I didn't care for the inletting in the stock but for a $200ish gun at the time it outperformed its price tag imo.
What are your expectations with one?

I am hoping for about 1 inch at 100 yds on a good day with the right ammo

I have a BTVLSS that has shot well inside one inch at 100 yards when all the stars align. One inch consistently at 100 yards can be pretty tough. Check out the Tikka T1X if you can find one, very good rifles for the money too.

I have a mkii tr. It's the baby tactical version in the Boyds tacticool stock. I agree with other answers that it's a nice gun for the $$. 1" consistent @ 100yds is possible but I don't think probable. With some work and finding ammo it likes your gun will definitely shoot better than when brand new. If it's what you want and can afford it should be a decent to good shooter most days. I would be more than happy to share my journey with my rifle if you want to no more.

I have one in the tacticool Boyd's stock. It shoots very good with CCI mini mags. Actually doesn't care for expensive ammo so I guess that's not a bad thing.

Pay the extra $$ and get a CZ 457. It is worth it.
A buddy of mine bought a 457 when I bought my Tikka. We bought them for 50 yard sporter benchrest. The 457 was a beautiful rifle, but my Tikka outshot it by a good margin. He sold it shortly afterwards. Small sample size I know.

The CZs are very nice looking rifles. But, I keep hearing how good they shoot but when I see them at a range they have some things in common. An aftermarket barrel, an aftermarket stock, and a reworked trigger. So now the CZ as become just a donor action. Would I consider one for minute of a squirrel, yes but I would also consider a large percentage of all offered bolt action 22s. If I was looking to compete I would look Tikka, Bagera or Annie.

yes I would like to hear

Have two variations on heavy barreled MkI/II
Agree with the consensus - accurate for dollar.
You can do better but have to spend more.
The Savage is so inexpensive that even if you end up upgrading it's a nice extra gun in the collection.

That sporter stock isn't very good for bench or prone with a scope.
Consider another model or getting the plastic stocked rifle and upgrading.
Your favorite Boyds or chassis or whatever.

They're great rifles for the money and you can customize it to your taste, ie, stocks, trigger, etc. I bought mine when Lakefield made the first production run in the 1990s. It has 30,000+ rounds through it and still shoots great. Currently it likes SK Biathlon Sport ammo for 200yd and longer ranges, and Lapua Center-X for 100yd and under.

Lots of good suggestions so far about modding the Savage, or alternate choices. Get what you think you'll like.

Not a BV but impressive shooting.

I've had a new B22 FV here for a couple years. When the weather gets decent I need to give it a try.

diversified innovative products bottom metal was a nice first upgrade for me. I bedded the Boyds tacticool stock. Made my own trigger pin shims from feeler gauges to tighten up side play. Bedded the scope base. Pulled the barrel to scrub everything down and light lap the barrel and deburr anything on barrel tennon. It definitely shot more consistent afterwards.
