Savage magazine installation?

I received a new magazine for my 110. Old mag tang broke off that holds it into the action. Anyone know how to get the new one in the action slots without breaking it?

The best way I've found is to start the end closest to the trigger and then bow the magazine just enough to fit into the other slot. I know it sounds rough but the magazine springs right back into place (at least they have for me). I've also tried bending the tabs so they will start in the slots and then tapping the magazine to bend the tabs back in place, but I can't get them to bend back far enough. I know you were probably looking for something better than this but it's the best I've been able to come up with. If you find a better way post it for the rest of us. Good luck, Brian.

Learned this on Savage Shooters. Take a recoil lug if you have one. Screw in the front action screw, insert the rear tab in it's slot, wedge the recoil lug flat side against the magazine and pry back against action screw. Push down and snap the front tab in. worked well for me.

OK!!! I just got it! I tried clamping it to bow the outsides as Fullerson stated. No luck. I tried Uncle Duke's idea. Closer, but again, no luck. Then I looked at the action itself. On the rear of the magazine cut out, closest to the trigger, there's a bevel that tapers down into the slot in the action that holds the clip tab. I put a "C" clamp, with the swivel end in the bolt locking lug way, and the flat on the bottom of the magazine (top when flipped upside down to work on it). Applied light pressure to the clamp, just enough to see the tab of the clip start to bend up, and then hit the tab edge with a flat screw driver and it popped right in. It was actually easier than I thought. But I wouldn't have thought about it if it hadn't been for both ideas. Thanks guys.
