I have a savage model 12 with acutrigger it's a single shot I want to switch it to a 7wsm when I change boltfaces someome said something about changing firing pin and extractor I don't really care if it will eject on it's own but concerened about firing pin

Savage has made two different diameter firing pins and two different size firing pin holes in the bolt head retention pins.

Remember when Savage was making the Short mags (before Rick Jaminson's lawsuit) they built them on larger tenons 1.125" X 20 tpi vs 1.0625 X 20 tpi as found on the standard calibers. Not sure if Savage makes any Short Mags at all now. I don't think they wanted to pay the royalties.
