Savage DIY Issues

MR F-T/r
I have two issues with the Savage a friend and I put together. I can deal with both issues without repair, but would prefer they worked correctly. The action is a small shank Model 12 that I got from a fellow accurate shooter member. The barrel is from a Savage 10 BAS-k in .308. I also swapped the bolt face with a standard bolt face bought from another fellow board member.

1) Empty brass (I have not fired it yet so I do not know about fired brass) extracts from the chamber but does not eject. When the brass is extracted it has tension on it. If I hold the brass straight until it clears the action wall, it ejects with plenty of force. When I extract it by itself, it gets dropped about halfway down the magazine. Is this an oversized bolt face issue? Would the only correction be a new bolt face?

2) This rifle was a .223. It is an "ADL" configuration. Loaded .308 rounds will not fit into the magazine becauce there is a metal spacer there and the follower is short. The magazine box is attached in such a way that I can't figure out how to remove it without destroying it. I assume to feed .308's, I will need the correct magazine kit. Any suggestions?

Out of curiosity is your extractor, straw colored, kinda like a medium rust color. If it is,replace it with the bigger ball bearing inder the extractor .

Is there a kit to order or do I just find a larger ball bearing that will fit in the extractor spring hole?
