i just got a new bolt to convert from 223 to 6br and it does not have the ejector parts. where can i get these parts and is it just a spring , plunger and pin? not sure if i am calling these the right names. bolt came from midway. thanks guys

Midway has all the parts you need.
I'm quessing you bought just the bolthead and not a complete bolt.

Midway should have the parts. At least they always did.
Problem always has been thier listed in model #'s you might not expect.

Call them. thats the easiest way.

If you are going to use the 6BR for target only, just leave the ejector off the gun. Those Lupua brass are too spendy to have then bouncing around and getting dented or lost.

I would think the complete bolt should be complete but never bought one.

I agree with MGYSGT
I remove ejectors from my target guns.

The bolt "heads" from midwayusa come stripped w/out extractor & ejector.
Look under Savage 110 parts, under bolts & other parts. They get the parts in and are out within days which tells me they really should order more of those parts! They are out of stock right now of ejector parts & the extractor.

Now even the "complete" bolt does not come with the ejector though it comes with the extractor....Thats not a complete bolt IMO!

If 5spd is correct (no reason to doubt him at all)
The extractor + parts is mandatory.
The ejector + parts remain optional.

Still can't rap my head around selling a complete bolt uncomplete ;D
I do know they're boltheads come uncomplete.

Savage bolt head parts:

Extractor, detent ball, spring,

Ejector, ejector spring, ejector retaining pin

Bolthead retention pin ( holes vary depending on firing pin size)

Front baffle

Bolthead baffle tension washer

Savage Arms only sells thee parts to FFLs

MidwayUSA, Brownells, e-gun Parts, and others may sell them to individuals (non FFLs).

There is a significant difference in price of just a bolthead or a complete bolthead.

I am thinking about doing a 300 win mag conversion on my 30-06. My rifle was made in the mid-80's. Aside from a bolt-head I thought I caught something about small or large firing pin holes. Will the bolt heads work regardless of firing pin type? If I do a conversion, will I need a whole new bolt?

Post 1999 to current bolts use them small bolt head retainer pin, proir to that they were the large pin. There are still parts for both. I have a 1985 FP10 and a 2010 FP10 and they are both small pin. The current bolt heads are for both. You wont need a new bolt if you have the right parts, but a complete bolt is easier to deal with and less in the long run.
The diff in the pins is the bolt head retaining pin thats the part with the large or small dia hole for your pin.

What about a 338 Lapua? I see the action listed as 110BA or something close. Can a guy build a 338 Lapua off of a 110 action?

Yes the 110 Standard Long Action will work for .338 Lapua..........

To save time and troubles I have extra complete bolts for caliber case head changes, they were pieced together over a year or so keeping an eye here, there & GunBroker, and I didn't spend much over $50 each average.
