SAVAGE ARMS 10 BA STEALTH. 338 LAPUA WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS RIFLE ?

Dicks Sporting Good STORE HAS a SAVAGE ARMS 338 LAPUA ON SALE FOR 850.00. this is with the $150.00 rebate. Man I dont see how i should NOT buy this gun. Will I be disappointed ? I would like a review from you guys that own this gun. also what scope will hold up ? thinking about the
SIGHTRON III 10-50-60 scope for this gun. will this cope hold up if you guys that own one give the gun a good review ? thanks. Marty

I just bought a model 110 BA Stealth in 338 LM and I like it a lot, but I think there’s probably a mistake on the price you saw and they will figure it out when you try to buy it. MSRP on the .223 Rem / 6.5CM / .308 Win versions is $1207, street price around $1000, and would be $850 after the rebate. These are called Model 10 BA Stealth (its confusing on their web site). The 338 version looks a bit different and has a list price of $1622, street price $1350 or so. The 338 LM version is called a model 110 BA Stealth. When I asked about scopes for the 338 some recommended a Sightron, but I got an ATACR.

6shotsor5..... I just called Dicks sporting goods store before driving 28 miles to buy the gun. You are correct. Very misleading ad by them they mention in print 338 lapua and call it a 10 BA stealth model. Wrong. The 6.5 creedmoore abd 308 are the only ones at this $850.00 price. Very misleading. The salesman even said we had 100 calls on the ad we really messed up. My apologies to every one about getting every one worked up on a great price. Marty

Approx. 6 months ago I had the opportunity (and took it) to get the Savage model 112 (Long Action & Single Shot) in 338 Lapua for under $800.00 (At Buds guns who honors price match guarantee) - Excellent rifle for the money if your looking for a 338 Lapua.

I bought mine almost a year ago. I throated the barrel out .260" +/- to allow me to seat the 300gr Berger Hybrid with the base at the shoulder/body junction. An ice cream scoop of RL-33 gets me close to 3000fps. Half-inch groups at 100 with initial testing. I paid about a thousand-fifty dollars for mine which included 6% sales tax.

I love it...

That' funny right there. I was using up to 102grs I believe. I gave up on 33 in my fcp. I've been struggling to get under an inchat 100 with 250 noslers and 33, could be my hold too. I've got some h1000 and berger 300s loaded up to try as soon as deer season is over. Other than my reloading struggles I love it though I know it's not quite the same gun.

For 250 gr. you may want to try Retumbo & H1000.
- For the 300 gr. SMK & Berger Hybrids I found R33 to be an excellent powder to work with, It shot well with both bullets close to the lands.

The straight truth is that Savage rifles are easily the best value in shooting today. Well made, accurate and dependable.

I have a Savage 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor that shoots circles around many custom rifles including some of my own. It actually makes me a little angry and I know of some others it has had the same effect on.

For less than $1000 you get the model 12 large shank target repeating action, 26" fluted bull barrel, the target version of the Accutrigger (adjustable to ounces!) and the HS Precision stock. You can also buy first rate prefit barrels from Shilen, McGowan and Criterion and spin them on yourself in short time using a vise and go/no-go gauges with perfect headspace and with no gunsmith required. Fantastic.

I would not hesitate to buy a 338LM from Savage but I would look at the 26" version in the HS Precision stock if I were you.
