savage action screws

Can someone tell me what size the Savage model 12 target action screw size is? I got a new savage rblp 4.4 action and it didn't come with action screws. Thanks

The screws get match'd to the stock. Before you put your barrel on torque the action into the stock. You want 99.5 % thread engagement so you don't strip the holes in the action and not too long to protrude into the action for the bolt to catch on. After you have it torqued up nice make sure the bolt opens & closes and slides freely. Then check to make sure the bolt catch will release the bolt.

I use 1/4-28tpi, 12 point, grade 9 bolts from McMaster-Carr. Takes a 12 point 1/4 inch socket (perfect for torque settings) and are a lot more resistant to stripped threads than the factory screws. These have to be cut to length, I use a cut-off wheel in a Dremel. I have plenty of extra's, is anyone wants to try them, pm me a mailing address and i'll send a set.
