Savage AccuTrigger ?

I saw this on the Savage site, anyone know how true this is ?? & what "certain" models Savage is refering to ??The revolutionary AccuTrigger lets you calibrate trigger pull weight all the way down to 6 oz. with certain models

The 'target Accutrigger' is fitted to all models in the Savage 12 'Precision' ranges, that is the out and out competition orientated single-shot rifles (FTR, Palma, F-Class, BR models); the 12 Long Range Precision Varmint series; the three 12 Long Range Precision magazine fed rifles.

Although capaple of being adjusted to a 6-ounce pull, the factory sets them at 12 and adjusting down below that often produces problems at a later date. 12 ounces to 1 lb seems to be optimal for long term trouble free use.

I have one in a Model 12 F-Class and straight out of the box, it's the best trigger I've ever used. Zero creep, and breaks like glass.

When adjusted below 10-12oz many shooters (me included) get unreliable performance. On mine, the trigger will trip when the bolt is closed when it is adjusted below 10oz.

Many folks love the Savage trigger system but I feel it it their biggest flaw since you cannot buy a quality aftermarket trigger for them. There are aftermarket triggers but they are not in the same league as a Jewell.

Do a search on here or Google and you will see the frustrations and experiences by other shooters.

Thank you all, I figured the trigger Savage was BSing about was on a rifle other that the standard model 12 varmint. I would like to talk to someone that has gone the Savage Sharp Shooter route with their Evolution trigger .

I have the evo trigger installed in a 6mmbr lrpv. also have the savage target trigger in a 22-250 lrpv w/ a criterian barrel. a big difference in the two. have a jewell installed in a 700 243. i'd rank the jewell #1, the evo #2 and the savage #3. the best factory triggers I have are in a sako and a tikka. ease of adjustment , no creep just function great.

Savage makes 3 Accu triggers The Black ,Silver and the RED.
Black will adjust down to around 3#
Silver about 2#
Red will go to 6 oz The red blade has a safety. and it is safe for hunting. it wont go off it will only de cock.
The after market triggers will go as low a 2 oz.
Most I feel they are not for hunting. 2 1/2# I think is as low as a trigger can be safe to hunted with
The good 2oz Evo trigger is like a jewell Competition trigger it doesn't have a safety.
If you have it timed and re work the bolt it works as good as most Jewell. Larry

when I had the evo installed , I didn't realize that the safety had to be removed. the rifle came back with the safety in a bag and a metal cover under where the safety was. I had a complete rifle built, action trued and trigger installed and various parts purchased from SSS. all quality work. pleased . the rifle came back within 2 weeks of the promised date and the action/trigger was on time. I know others have had problems...but when it comes to SSS I lead a charmed life

Jard ( www.jardinc.com ) makes a replacement trigger/sear combination that will work on all three Savage triggers. I like my Red Blade trigger but the Jard makes the other two types much more shootable.

I had a LRPV with the target Accutrigger and had it adjusted really light. It was a really nice trigger in my opinion. However...I had to cycle the bolt like it was an eggshell or else the safety part of the trigger would trip and it would not fire until I cycled the bolt again. In order to cycle the bolt quickly I had to increase the tension until it was not all that light of a trigger any more. I would have replaced it if I was shooting under a time limit.
