Savage 99c having issues cycling shells.

I have a Savage 99C in .308. I have an issues with the gun I could use some help on. This model has the detachable box magazine. 150 gr Federal factory load will not cycle out of both sides of the magazine it will only cycle the shells on the left side of the clip. I have two magazines and they both have the same issue. Any ideas!

I have a 1969 Savage 99c I got in 2008 and have not shot it yet.

Per your post I dug up some factory 308 or 7.62x51nato ammo and tried feeding. It sometimes jams with a loaded mag feeding from the right side of the double stack magazine.

It looks to me like the case base is hitting the extractor too square and not sliding under and to the left. If I give the case base a nudge with my finger pushing the base to the left, the rifle then feeds.

The solution seems to me to be to grind a little off the extractor.
But I will check with the Sav99 collectors first.

My prognosis exactly! My one thought to resolve the problem would be to ever so slightly bend down the top right side of the magazine a little more. Thinking it would push the case base down a little more and slightly to the left to line up into the extractor.

Some more experimenting shows the rifle feeds ok if the magazine is held in the extra 0.020" of clearance, but then the last shot does not feed. The last shot feed if I relax the upward force on the bottom of the magazine.

OK, I put oil under the extractor and wiggled the extractor for a minute. Now the rifle feeds all the time, but still jams on the last round if I am pressing up on the magazine to take out the 0.020" clearance.

So the problem went away with a couple drops of Break Free CLP.
