Savage 6mm lrpv dual port

I am entertaining the thought of purchasing a new Savage dual port 6 mm Norma BR rifle and was wondering if I am going to be able to use the Lapua brass in this chamber. I heard somewhere that it might have to be run through a small base full length die first, if this is the case would that be a one time thing or would that have to be done after the initial time, also I am planning on shooting bullets in the 70 to 90 grain range and was wondering if this chamber with will be right with these bullets. The barrel is a 1 in 12 twist.

Let us know how that works out. I am thinking of the same set-up for long range bench work. I have had great luck with Savage Actions and Factory Barrels.

Your chamber will accept the Lapua just fine. I have a custom 6BR with a 1/12 twist that shoots 75 grain VMaxs just fine. I haven't tried anything heavier yet, but it should go to 85 just fine. Go to the Berger Bullets page. They have the recommended twist listed for every bullet they sell.
My experience is that it will shoot better on your second firing, assuming you only neck size.
