Savage 6mm 1-8 Freebore ?

Can anyone please tell me the freebore for the Savage LRPV 6mmBR, 1-8 twist. I would like to be able to shoot 80 grain bullets, maybe even the 70 grain. Not sure it is going to work.

It would also be nice to know the freebore for the 1-12 twist if anyone is shooting that. Comments regarding experience with the Savage 1-12 also appreciated. I have read mixed reviews with the 1-12. Most say go with the Savage 1-8.

Many thanks.

The 12 twist is made for the bullets you want to shoot. Why would you want a 8 twist? Mine shoot bullets up to the 87gr vmax very well

So you are using the 1-12 with good luck. I am glad to read that.

Can you tell me which bullets you are shooting best and what powder you are using.

I had a 6BR F-class -- 8 twist (sold it). It had a very long throat -- lighter 70-85 Gr. bullets would not get close to the lands. I never tried 87 V-max.
A very helpful person here estimated my freebore at around .160 based on dummy round measurements I sent him.

What was your reason for selling this rifle?

Hmmm, several reasons really...
It was very accurate and had a pretty good barrel for factory but I have way too many toys several of which are very heavy like the F class. Also, the place that I intended to shoot at longer distance went away.
I guess I am just thinning things out as well as making up another 6 BR that will be much lighter and more logical for the shorter distance I will shoot it.

I use h322 with the 68 grain hp flat base bullets with good results. Mine is a 1 in 14 twist.
