Savage 12FVSS in .308 Win accuracy

OK given that this rifle has been very well maintained, has shot about 150 rounds, it's in hands of a good shooter and ammo is very precise, what groping can be expected at about 600-700 yards? And 1000 yards? Just your opinion.
Or this is to mach for this rifle without investing more money in it?

I’m asking because I’m considering an MOA rail and want to know if it make sense to invest in to extended rail, good rings and may be a better scope.
The rifle has been used on 100 yard range only so far and gives consistent .6” - .7” groups
It has Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 scope

How does it shoot at 200,300 etc?

My Sav. 12FV in 204 shoots 1/4' at 100 sometimes better. The 200y group is at best 3/8' and usually around 7/16-1/2'

The 600y group was only shot once and it's 3.5'

The trend will continue to the stability point of the bullets if you have good trigger pullers, good ammo and glass that doesn't walk.

You can get to 600 and 1000 without that canted base, try a hold over if you don't have the vertical travel, but IIRC you should get to 1k with 45 MOA or less, so I'd expect you can get there without it.

I think you should just take it to 1k and go shoot it. Or 600, whatever the longest available range is that you can get to. The nicest, highest dollar equipment is not worth it at 1k if you've never launched something past 100y. Go shoot the rifle, you should see MOA groups at 1k if you're good at long range.

Thank you, agreed - I need to take it to 300-400 or better 600 yard range, load some good quality ammo and find a good shooter,I'm still learning).
All this will help to find if the rifle has a potential.

I just need to find right shooting range near Dallas :)

Strobes,

The North Texas Shooters Association is having a club match this weekend on Sunday in Denton. They are shooting 100 yd Score and Group this weekend. The next match will be 200 yds. Not sure the maximum distance you can shoot on that range. There will be a couple of us shooting Savages probably. There will also be some world class BR shooters as well.

Luck, tiny

Tiny, I really want to go there, but also have an opportunity to introduce my Savage to local pigs in west TX ;) ...
