SAVAGE 12F/TR 308

The guns shoot very well from what I've seen. I shoot with three other fellows on a factory-sponsored,i.e. they provide the rifles and barrels) F/TR team. We took a number of trophys and medals at the matches we attended this summer; the rifles really do shoot amazingly well.

The biggest problems people have had with them seems to be getting used to the very light factory Target Accutrigger. As it comes from the factory, set at about 6 oz.) if you put the bolt down too hard... it trips the sear, but the safety catches it). If you push the orange safety blade of the trigger to the side *at all*, it'll trip the sear, but again, the safety catches it). No ADs that I've heard of, but a lot of people complaining because either they think the gun won't cock, or that the gun is misfiring. Simplest fix is to dial the trigger weight back up to about 12-16 oz. or just spend some time dry-firing to get used to the trigger. A few people have gotten rifles with bad crown jobs; best thing to do is contact Savage - they've been pretty good about taking care of people who do have actual problems with their guns.

I'm not a huge fan of the stock. It works, and thats about all I can say about it. I'll be shooting it again in the 2008 season, so it ain't all bad ;)
