Savage 12 stock

I have a Savage 12 Bull Barrel in 22-250 Which has a synthetic stock. I would like to get a Savage factory Laminated stock for this rifle but am confused on what i need any body? Correct bolt spacing? Thanks

Need to know action length (in the case of a 10, 11, 12 or 16 it is short), number of action screws (2 or 3), action screw spacing, whether it is a single shot, DBM or internal mag. And of course left or right hand action. It used to be simple, they've been complicating things lately. For model 12 factory laminate stocks for large diameter barrels you are probably looking for a VLP (varminter low profile) or BVSS stock.

Option B for a drop-in type plastic stock with a bedding block would be an HS Precision (300 plus but nice), or the Choate. The Choate Ultimate Varminter stock, same as used a few years back on the VSS models from the factory, for the 4.27 screw spacing internal mag models can be had for 175-185 these days, pretty good value.

+1 for what GrocMax said. Also that action screw spacing seems to follow NO pattern in regard to serial number nor when it was produced.
Additionally ( I think it's the two screw) is made with two different measurements between them.

I've seen these dimensions before and have had a costly error. I have a Sav 12 LRPV and 12BR.
My dim. are approx. 3.45" between the three screws on both. Both are 3rd gen with a serial number higher than H*****.
When measuring there are NO 2 or 3 points that will come out to 4.anything. The 4th screw (closest to the butt is not an action screw but rather secures the trigger guard) and even trying that one into the equation (which it does not) still can not come up with 4.anything.
In fact that rear fastener is different also. One is a wood screw and the other a bolt which screws into a captive nut in the stock.
I have no desire to argue the point. I just repeat my original statement. Be careful to measure YOUR rifle. I relied on printed info from the stockmaker and his info on the serial number....it did not work out.

Your right the majority of the target actions are 4.4 but some are 3.27 or something like that.

Don't forget the bell and carlson tactical medalist. It's about 240 and also has an aluminum bedding block.
