Savage 12 LRP questions

I have had a Savage LRP for close to 2 years. being a long time Remmy shooter, and moving into the custom gun range last year, the only thing about the Savage I truly hate is the trigger. Been shooting for 30+ years and had issues with not pulling the red portion straight back, and it not firing.

At this point in my life, I'm an old dog, and I'm not changing. So I have a few questions before I throw in the towel on the gun.

A) Can the trigger be changed out? How hard is it?

B) I have read about large and small shank Savage guns and replacing the barrel. Given I have over a dozed headspace gauges, I'd like to know if this is easy, and what tools I would need. Is the 12 LRP a large or small shank gun?

Thanks in advance!

Savage LRP nice rifle.
Trigger replacement is not difficult. I'd recommend the RifleBasix Sav2 trigger. I have 3 and in my opinion are the best aftermarket trigger for Savages. I have 2 Sharpshooter triggers but like the RifleBasix a lot better.

As far as I know the LRP is a large shank barreled action.Changing calibers/barrels is not hard at all if you have either a barrel vise or action wrench and a barrel nut wrench . And of course head space guages.
I have had 7 Savages and none in the factory configurations they originally came in.
Hope this helps.

The Sharp Shooter Supply trigger is another great one too, have used them for quite a while, really like them.

Large shank yes, barrel change is easy with a Savage nut wrench and a big vise with oak blocks clamping the barrel. If you don't have a action wrench. Your trigger will work, probably needs adjustment.
