Savage 12 benchrest neck diameter

I just picked up a new Model 12 benchrest in 6br. I was doing some measuring today and when I went to stick my Hornady modified case in the chamber it wouldn't go and I almost stuck it. I have used the case before in another barrel (.272 neck) and had never had any problems. When I got it out I found shiny spots on the neck. I ended up turning my modified case from .272 or so down to .270 which was still a pretty snug fit but I could move it in and out easily enough. I haven't shot it yet and wondered if anyone could tell me what their neck diameter is with their Savage rifle. I just assumed that they would've put at least a .272 neck in it if not a little bigger but I'm guessing that mine is right around the .270 mark which is great with the newer brass. I called to ask Savage but they couldn't or wouldn't tell me what the spec was. I guess I'm just a little surprised only in a good way for once.

I have one of the first 6br's in F Class from Savage and the neck is .271. I know of 2 others that are more recent purchases and they are closer to .270. Hope this somewhat of a help.

If u climb the ladder at Savage you can get a blueprint of the chamber specs. I had them for this gun but not sure where i put them or if i saved them on my system. I will check around. I hate to say it but mine went back and forth to savage for 6 months. It would not eject shells. I would have to bang back on the bolt for it to eject. They never did get it right and finally sent me a new one.
