Savage 110 Build Qs

This is what i have now:
Untitled-116.jpg
It's a savage 110 SA with a .223 barrel and an accutrigger. I ordered picatinny base today. What else would you all suggest I order next? I thought about buying a blind mag and getting a standard wood stock from Boyd's or Stocky's, or some other places. I started looking at some of the rifle of chassis and thought it would be cool to make this build completely different from what it used to be. I have always just used a wood or laminate stock on a savage action and I want to try something different this time around. Keep in mind the barrel will never always be a .223 and I could change it out to some other caliber in the future. What would you suggest I could do on this build?

If you are looking for extreme accuracy Alex Wheeler on a pod-cast with Erik Cortina (Believe the Target) says the laminate wood is the better way to go.

For a budget stock, look at a Choate. Action fits well into it's v- block. Anschutz rail. Very good ergonomics. It's a bit heavy for hunting, but very stable.

You don’t mention exact purpose.
A lot of folks bash the Choate stocks because they are heavy, that’s what I want and am happy with the half dozen or so I put together in various 17’s,20’s and 22’s. They have some empty spaces that allow addition of even more weight if so desired. My 17 Remington full bull weighs right around 34 pounds now as I recall. My 22BR is not far from that.
Allows me to see all of my impacts.
A field gun or walking varminter there are better options.

I have KRG Bravos on Remington footprint actions. They are a bargain in my book. Have not done another Savage build to have a chance to fry the KRG Savage stock.

Purpose of this build is just to plink with a .223 for now but I might replace it with Hornady's new .22 creedmoor and try it in the .22 category in some PRS matches next year. I talked to one shooter at Whittington Center in Raton and he told me he was using a custom made .223 to shot 80 grain bullets. I was really impressed with his gun.

Yeah, I would start looking on ebay and other sites, constantly. I found a laminate stock for a savage. took me a while, but very nice.

I've had two customers now talk about the Jard trigger. I've tried the sav 2. It was good as long as you kept the pull weight above 8 oz or so. If you got below that it would go off when you dropped the bolt.

I've made about 200 barrels for savages and they will shoot. I do try to get my customers to switch over to one of the Savage barrel compatible actions that are available now. You can buy the Solus on Brownells right now for $750 I think? It takes a Savage barrel is a three lug 60° throw. But it has the advantage of being Remington 700 footprint compatible, and takes Remington triggers.

My only complaint with the Savages is that the upgrades are not as good as the Remington footprint type actions. Your choices are so limited you will ultimately end up spending more money.

Here is a Savage barrel on an Origin action. The origin is an amazing action for the money. I know people don't want to spend the money, and everybody's on a budget, my entire store is built around the budget-minded shooter, but getting the action right from the beginning that's upgradeable really will save you money in the end.

Thats great to know the Solus action will take the Savage prefit & that you are getting familiar with them. . Thx for that.
Be nice to run a 6BR - 6BRAI for 105-109 gr bullets for long range.
Been borrowing a Mod70 in Anschutz in 6BRAI and it does work well at 1000 with the 105 Berger Hybrid
