SAUM/WSM Shooters: LRP or Magnum LRPs?

If you shoot a Saum/WSM/SS family of cartridge, do you run LRP or Magnum LRP? Is there charge weight threshold or bullet weight class you have found benefits to running Magnums?

I've found that standard LRP primers work best in my 300 WSM. At least with H4350, H4831sc and RE-23. I don't think charge weight or bullet weight matters.
Good luck!

Fed F-215 Mag shot, the best / tightest groups, in my .270 WSM Tikka T-3 with 65 grains of IMR 7828 and the 140 AccuBonds. I tested them against, Win lge Magnum primers. I shot several, 1 3/8 " dia or, less 200 yards groups with, the Feds.
CCI #200 std's with, lighter loads of the faster burning IMR 4350 ( 58 to 61 grains ) and the 135 Sierra MK's were best for, my "plinking" Steel Plate load.
Your Rifle, Bullet weight and the Powders "Burn Rate", should determine whats best. Shot quite a bit of .338 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag. and .270 WSM with, SLOW Powders and the F-215 was always,.. my "go to" Primer.

+1 fed 215M. Though I haven't tried or seen a need to try, others.

Just finishing a load for a 270 WSM hunting rifle
using FG magnum, the key for us is building around a good primer that’s available and not smoke the barrel doing it.

I have 3 .300WSMs.. One shoots the Berger 230 and it uses N565 with Federal 210s. The 2nd shoots 215s with H4350 and it likes either Wolf L/R or CCI BR-2s. The 3rd also uses H4350, shooting the 200-20xs. It uses CCI-250 Magnums. Now to note, I always test primers last to see if I can't tighten up the groups or cut the size of the e.s.s.. The above is what shoots the best after testing. NOW to be honest, with the 200-20Xs, the CCI-250s shoot to the exact same point of impact at 330 yards, the velocity is the same as the BR-2s, however, the 250s cut the e.s.s to 8f.p.s. extreme spread, instead of 14-16 for the BR-2s.

I shoot Fed 210's in my 6.5 SAUM hunting rifle. I figured since my powder charge was close to my 284s and the case was short and fat the LRPs would work fine. I didn't test MRPs since I was getting great vertical at 1k with the load.

I use Fed 210 in my WSM. That is with H4350 and 210 VLD. I get a good clean burn with H4350 and the load. It is only slightly more powder then a 30-06 load. About 7 to 10 grains. If i use a slower powder or hunt in subfreezing temps, then I use a 215 Federal. Matt

I tested out 210M vs 215M during my N570 ladder test. Wasnt really expecting much, but since i was shooting the ladder anyway and needed to practice, figured it couldnt hurt. Well, effects were pretty obvious.

Never tried 215M's or any other magnum primers in my 300 WSM but 210M's gave me single digit ES's and SD's with good groups at 1K with RL23 and Berger 215's.

This is a great way to test primers
