Satorius 64-1s vacuum powder spill?

How are people cleaning powder spills in their Satorius or Entris scales? Tempted to use a vacuum, but didn’t want to break anything or possibly suck any powder into the weighing mechanism with the Kirby. Anything to watch out for?

Take off the plate where the pan sits and you see all powder under it in a contained area. It cannot get into inside unless you had the to cover off when you spilled powder.

I’m using a very small cordless vacuum with a skinny attachment.

But I do need to remove the weighing shield plate occasionally. Kernels seem to find their way under it more than I expect.

Thanks for the replies. Read a thread about getting powder kernels stuck in the weiging mechanism and the scale had to be sent back, so it got me thinking. It also helps to put the cup under the drop tube!

hand held cordless vac...used it more times than I care to admit.

I my be committing a mortal sin, but I just remove the loose parts on my FX-120 and dump in the waste basket. Usually just a few kernels, but have had my moments.

One thing that should not be done is using 'canned air' or compressed air nozzle to blow out kernels as they would likely drop into the works below shield. For the rare (;)) 'throws without a pan' I use a handheld vac to get the bulk. I bought a Black and Decker $50 unit and it is as useless as a one legged man in an arse kickin' contest:mad:. I keep threatening it to be replaced with a Dyson unit once I recover from the virus hit to my bank account. For the typical occasional scattered kernels I have found that a dense soft make-up brush, like the fuzzy ones used to apply blush, will pick up the kernels when touched off on them and then shaken out over a receptacle; it works very well. I conscripted one from my wife for the task:). Mine has a head like this one but a much cheaper looking swaged aluminum handle:

It sucks when we spill power we on our scale, therefore using something that sucks to clean it up is the logical approach........ ;)
