salvaging powder

I am about to pull a bunch of bullets out of my old 338 EDGE. Should I save the powder and put if back into the container? RL 33 loaded about 5 years ago. 100+ gr per round.

If it's a bunch of ammo that's been stored properly, I'd probably save it. I'm a real tight-wad. If it isn't that many rounds, or if it's been laying on the dash of your pick-up for ages, I'd toss it. jd

I would, same reason, I hate waste.
Ive pulled pistol bullets loaded with tight group in a clear bottle so I could check it out. It looked fine so back in the jug it went.

What does it convert to?
0.07 of a pound
Don't think I would bother.

I think the math would work out better if you added the fact that there are 15 plus loaded rounds for a total of 1500+ grains, or about .25 pound, or $8.00.

Save it if you're still on the same bottle of RL33. Even then, mixing it in with a different lot #, it would be doubtful if it hurt anything as long as it isn't clumped or showing signs of degradation.
Any sign that it's degraded at all, put it in a cup or bowl and scatter on the yard. It makes for some good fertilizer.

I pulled about 150 7 RM that I loaded about 40 years ago with IMR 4350, and used it in loading my 300WM. Nary a problem, but like previously stated "stored properly".....
