SAKO L691 WITH A FIBERGLASS STOCK/NEED HELP TO ID IT. PLEASE HELP!

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
A friend just bought a heavy barrel sako and the only thing identifying it is L691 in .300 weatherby,it has a matte finnish on all the metal with a bolt handle which looks like in the white or some kind of chrome on the handle. It is left handed with a leupold mark 4 10 power scope on sako bases with leupold rings by the look of it. I know the scope means nothing except I wanted to describe what it was set up with including a harris bipod. What model might it be?

John,
Sakocollectors.com would be a good place to find out the info
you desire. Are there any markings on the barrel down close to the stock?

Relatively speaking the L691 is kinda rare the were made only a short time
Before being superseded by the 3 lug model 75. Not sure how many years
they were made. Also all sako bolts had the serial number hand etched
On the bolt handle

On the left side of the barrerl. Do you think it is a custom build with that hs precision like stock on it?

Yea that's what it sounds like. The caliber designation is normally on top
of the barrel parallel to the action right next to the shoulder.
