I inherited this rifle when I was a young man and have never even shot it. I have been trying to do some research on this Sako L61R Finnbear in .25-06 with Bushnell 3-9 scope. Any info on this item along with estimate of current value would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a few photos as this rifle is in very good condition and absolutely love the depth in color of the old bluing....

That is a game getter of first quality....the old bluing, well, nothing like it!
I've just reread some 26-06 posts this morning. They lit my fire.

That's a Finnbear deluxe. If it has Sako marked butt pad it's worth about $1200-1400 in 95-98% condition. That's an Alll bolt shroud so it's a later model. I can tell you more if you PM me with Serial number and pic of model name on left side of receiver.

With great trepidation, I suggest using the Sako Collectors forum to get some good information. I'm not sure what information you're looking for that you don't already have though.

The .25-06 cartridge is a superb cartridge for hunting most deer size game. The selection of hunting style bullets is pretty good. It will also stand in good stead for a long range varmint rifle, just be careful with the shot pacing.;)

The scope is o.k. but not nearly what would help to excel.

The wood is exceptionally nice, great grain structure and figure.:) I am not a fan of skip line checkering so that style doesn't impress me. :(

All-in-all, I think you have an excellent example of that era of rifles. I am not a good judge of value as I never pay attention to this aspect.

Best of Luck with your search!:D

That's a beautiful gun, seldom seen and very desirable. Love those earlier Sako actions. My .280 will be for sale pretty soon. It was built years ago.IMG_0832.jpeg IMG_0830.jpeg IMG_0833.jpeg

Sako Deluxe in the desirable 25-06. That was probably somebody’s prized rifle at one time, it was and still is one the best production rifles ever made and they typically shoot lights out. You could list it on an auction site like gunbroker and do pretty good, it looks to be in good condition. People might not bite right now with the Covid pandemic. If you don’t need the money I would encourage you to keep it. 1200-1300 all day long, list on an auction site and you might get 1400+ would be my opinion.

I appreciate all the comments and info from you gentlemen, unfortunately it looks like this piece will need to go with all the craziness going on.
