Sako extractor on a Savage floating bolt head

I personally think the Savage extractor is great. Have never seen nor heard of a replacement for it. It is as good as the Sako mods for Remingtons.

this is for a 300 whisper application.

the Savage extractor is a bit weak - and more importantly, in the wrong location, to extract the short cases.

Can anyone out there do it?

So it won't pull the case from the chamber, or will it not eject the case from the ejection port? The extractor should work regardless of where it is. I don't understand what it's doing exactly, yet. Where should the extractor be in your opinion?-- Could this be an ejector problem instead of the extractor?Mike

it would to very hard to do !!! there no metal to drill for the spring and plunger you need for it to work ! tha savage type extractor is only opption with savage bolt head

I don't understand why it won't extract? Can you explain why the short case has an effect on the extractor grabbing the rim of the case.

And how is it in the wrong spot? Is it affecting the ejector being able to pop the case out of the action?

I am really just curious and would like to understand more about this.

The .221 I believe has been chambered in the Savage by plenty of shooters before with no issue, why is the whisper different?
