SELLING Sako A1 6ppc with Bartlein barrel, PDT tuner, sizing die, and more

For sale is my first centerfire and the one Sako PPC that I thought I might never sell. It is a Sako A1 single-shot in 6PPC.

I shot out the factory barrel a few years back, bought a Bartlein 13.5 twist blank that matched the Sako barrel profile and had Bob Green chamber it with his "min-SAAMI" spec reamer at .272 neck. I am including Bob's matching sizing die so the brass sizes perfectly. I used Lapua brass with a skim turn on the necks, and I am including 49pc that have been expanded to 6mm, skim turned. 5 pieces are fire formed once, 44 pieces are primed with Federal GM205 primers and fully ready for fireforming. The stock is original, unbedded, and in very good condition. A few minor handling marks and I've tried to capture them accurately in the photos. The sling screws are not shown in the pics but will be included.

Per my brass records, the barrel has 650 rounds of moderate loads and the borescope photos show no fire cracking of any kind. It has the muzzle turned 5/8-24 for direct mount of a suppressor, which I rarely shot on this rifle. For the life of this barrel it's had the Ezell PDT tuner and Ezell tuner threaded adapter installed.

This setup has been shooting very accurately (1/4" groups happening with regularity) with two kinds of bullets: a hand-pulled custom 68gr boat-tail made by Jimmy Carpenter, and a 65.3gr unknown hand-pulled benchrest bullet. I will include the (260) of the 65.3's and there are (1697) of the 68's that the rifle buyer can also buy for a very good price. I will put these bullets up against anyone elses and I've tried more than a few. Interestingly, I've found this rifle is really good for its cold bore shot, center-punching its zero more consistently than any other rifle I've owned. If I still had farmland and critters to dispatch at distance, I'd grab this gun every time.

The rings are Burris Signature 30mm rings mounted to old-school Redfield MDT bases that directly fit the Sako tapered dovetail. This setup is the winning combination for these Sakos. I've tried a bunch of Sako Optilock stuff and they don't align correctly.

The trigger is the well-regarded Sako adjustable two-stage trigger. While all Sako triggers are very good, this one has been worked over by Bob Green to be very light and crisp (8oz? 6oz? Not sure TBH). It has the original trigger guard with the adjustment holes.

It is currently fitted with a Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 scope with illuminated EBR-2D reticle. The bikini cover and sun shade are included and have never been used. I can't find any blemishes on it and since it's only seen Signature rings, it has no ring marks.

This rifle includes the rings, bases, Lapua brass, tuner, tuner adapter, Bob Green sizing die, Possum Hollow fitted bore guide, and 260 65.3gr benchrest bullets for $1600 shipped directly from me to your FFL. Offer valid only in states that allow that. If you want the scope, add $400 (yes that price is intentionally attractive). I take USPS Money orders. If you ever pass near Hershey PA we can take another $100 off for shipping.

If you are interested in 100pcs of Alpha 6PPC brass, the (1697) 68gr Carpenter boattail bullets, a Wilson micrometer seating die, or 100pcs of new Lapua 220 Russian brass, I will offer those at an attractive price to the rifle buyer.

I found some rounds already loaded and shot them this morning. I shot right to left and the high shot is the first shot immediately after a cleaning. 5 shot groups at 100y.

I see holes in the trigger guard to access the adjustable trigger which tells me that the rifle is the heavier target/varmint single shot version versus the Vixen repeater. Am I right?
Sold my Vixen to buy one of those target/varmint versions and found it too heavy for my liking. I do like SAKO and to this day regret having sold my Vixen.

It is the adjustable two stage trigger and the trigger guard holes are for external adjustment.

I don’t believe it came on any rifle other than the heavy barrel varmint A1 and a very few heavy barrel A2s. I had a 243 Win repeater with a heavy barrel and two stage trigger.
