Sako 75 Varmint

Are the Sako 75 Laminated Varmint Stainless, with set trigger, known to have any problems or weakness'? I'm looking at one in .243 Win,,unfired) and wanting to know if they shoot as good, or better than "out of the box", Remington or Savage varminters. It comes with a 1 in 10" twist bbl., so I'm thinking it might shoot BIB 95 gr. or Lapua Scenar 90 gr. pills pretty accurate out to 500 yards. Opinions please!

I know the 87gr Hornady HPBT shoot well out of a 10 twist Sako L579.
I have a Sako VLS in 6mmPPC and it was very accurate out of the box and have only heard good reports on all Sakos they did have a problem with Barrel steel in the large calibures with light barrels but were recalled.

Can't comment on the Sako 75, but I do have a heavy barrelled Sako AII in .243 thats a consistent .25 - .5 moa for 5 shots with the 70gr Nosler Bt's. Thats without bedding too and just a lightened trigger

Don't think it matters though. Whatever Sako you get, they all have a reputation for being superbly accurate.

After 2 months of load work my Sako 75 shot 2 1/2 inch groups @ 100 yards out of box. Thats the best it would do. Trued action + instaled Broughton 5c barrel. The factory barrel was mounted to action .020 crooked. After getting rifle back it would not fit into factory stock because stock was made to fit crooked barrel. Had Mcmillan make stock for it + rifle now shoots 1/8 moa with anything I through into chamber. No load work whatsoever. I think I just got a bad one. I don't beleive most Sako's as bad as mine was. Extrememly happy with rifle now. It is just something that happens with factory rifles.

I've got a 75 in 222 that I got 2nd hand, gun appeared to be new when I got it. It's scary how accurate it is, I've only tried 3 loads so far and it's shootin in the 2's. I'm only guessing that it's original out of the box, came with Burris 8x32, laminate with blued heavy barrel. Also have a Rem laminate in 222 that I know is factory stock, and it averaged .419 for 20 different loads. Got love the 222's!!!!

I have 2 Sako- 75's and for a factory rifle they seem to shoot very well and have not had any issues with either one.

Mine has run very well, no issues. The one thing about this model Sako is I do not prefer the DBM for bench shooting colony rodents, much preferring a solid bottom receiver, or even a repeater action with a standard magazine that accepts a single shot follower. Other than that, great rifle. My Sako M75V shown is in 204 Ruger.

I realize Gman's rifle is a 243Win, just thought this may help a tad.

I have the same model in a .223 with 1-9 twist that has served me well. Like Rick said, the DBM is a pita, so it's loaded single shot usually in the p-dog towns. Set trigger is very crisp and light.
