Safe load for 6.5-284 using RL-17?

I recently bought some RL-17 to try out but didn't find a lot of official load data.
I came across a load online posted by a user that's as follows:

130gr Berger VLD
51.8 gr of RL-17

My OAL would be 3.13"

This seems to be quite HOT and I'm wondering if it's dangerously hot.
This same user claimed to have loaded up to 52.5gr when pressure signs appeared.

Any suggestions?

51.0 in mine was borderline with 139's and 142's I think you should start at like 49.0 grains and work up assuming your rifle is in good condition here is a link that I used when trying rl-17 as a side not I did much better with H-4350 in both my 6*284 and my 6.5*284 and 6xc . hope this helps some.

Thanks a lot for the reply Wayne.
I've loaded a few rounds in steps, started at 50gr (called a friend of mine who has an updated version of quickload and it's suppose to be fine).

The gun is a custom build with a monster barrel on it so yes it is in excellent condition, basically new.

Thanks a lot for the link on RL17, really helps.

I've tried RL-17 in a various rifle chamberings. I made up all of my own loads because there wasn't any data available for RL-17.

When trying RL-17 in a new cartridge, I always start 2-3 grains less than loads listed for IMR 4350 in manuals since it is similar in burn rate, then work up if there are no pressure signs. That method has always worked safely for me.

RL-17 has always produced amazing speeds and accuracy for me.

I shoot 130 vld in front of 51.0 gr RL-17 out of a short throated (.100") 6.5-284 and 50.8 out of my hunting rifle that has a .160" throat. These rifles shoot extremely well with this load.
