Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held an UNL IR50/50 match at the Sac Valley Shooting Center Saturday, in the heart of the Ione Triangle. We had 10 shooters come out to challenge the tricky conditions and they were not disappointed. It was in the low 60's when I got there @ 7:15 warming up as the morning progressed into the high 80's by the end of the match @ Noon. By the time we got started @ 8:30 there were the predictably switchy conditions, not a lot of velocity usually twitching flat to half a tail with the usual pickups and reverses to keep it interesting.
Marcus Byrne continues to dominate our little corner of paradise, taking the 1st 3-Card agg with a nice 741-32x, just edging out his buddy Pierre Bigras who took 2nd on x count with a 740-40x including the high card of the agg with a 249-15. Match Director Dan also shot a 740 but with 38x for 3rd.
We moved on to the 2nd 3 card with some strange elevation shifts experienced by multiple shooters. Marcus once again coming out on top with a 746-42x including high card with a 249-17x. Dan taking 2nd with a 743-36x, Pierre 3rd at 741-36x.
Interestingly not a single 250 was shot in either match, guess that shows the tough conditions, or in my case I just suck at RF.
I think everyone had a good time regardless of their scores keeping in mind that every match is hopefully a new learning experience. Things moved along without a hitch, getting everyone on the road in time to avoid the traffic.
The 6-Card Aggregate aka the "Money Match" (5.00 of your entry fee goes into a cash pot for the top 4 in the 6-Card)
1st: Marcus Byrne 1487-74x
2nd: Dan Lutke 1483-74x
3rd: Pierre Bigras 1481-76x
4th: Brett Berger 1479-58x
Thanks to all who attended and helped, hope to see everyone in August.
