s111 10x50x60 sightron on FTR

Hi There
new guy here looking for some help
I am building a FTR rifle to shoot out to 1000 yards and want to put a S111 10x50x60 on it.Will the 50min of elevation on this scope get me there? I will be dialing wind not aiming off so worried about running out of adjustment at 1000 yards
Thanks

You don't say what cal but to keep your erector tube more in the middle of the travel you may consider doing what I did: As suggested, I installed a 20 moa base and also used Burris with the +/- 20 inserts for another 20moa (approx).

Using my Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading for a 168 gr HPBT @ a healthy 2700 fps, 100 yd zero requires 408.2" to be in the hunt @ 1K yds. So, you're going to need around 163 clicks on a .25 moa scope.

Since it's for F-Class FTR it would be safe to say he's using .308 Win., maybe .223 Rem., but since he's just starting out I'd doubt it.....and I bet he's not going to use a 168gr HPBT either.

I have the same scopes and have switched to the Burris Signature Zee rings on 10 moa bases.

Thanks Guys
yes its a 308 and i have a 17moa rail on it and will get some burris rings.I was thinking of the s111 8x32x56 for the 70min of elevation but would rather the s111 10x50x60 if i could get it to work
Have shot shot a few seasons out to 600yards this will be my first year shooting out to 1000 yards
Thanks for your help

I use a Sightron lll 10-50x60 at 600 yds mounted on a EGW 20 MOA Base with no problems. When I purchased it from EGW I asked them if the 20 MOA Base would be enough out to a 1000yds. They told me it should but if I wanted more MOA I could send it back and for $10 they would mill it to 30 MOA or even up to 40 MOA.

If you already shoot 600 yards, dial your 600 yard zero and then count how many MOA you have left. My current F-TR rig needs 19.25 MOA from my 600 yard zero to get to 1000 yards. 31.25 MOA from my 300 yard zero with the 200gr Hybrid to get to 1000.

Here are my come-ups for a reference with a 300 yard zero:
600 yards=12 MOA
800 yards=21 MOA
900 yards=25.5 MOA
1000 yards=31.25 MOA
Your results may vary...

you will like it. It is a nice scope for less than half a NF. Although never looked through a NF, the $$ saved is worth it because SIII has nice glass
