S&B 4-16x50mm-PMII vs. NiteForce 5.5-22 x 50 NXS

I am at the design stage, building a 6.5mm rifle, more than likely 6.5 Creedmoor, but could be 6.5 x 284). I am at the pick a scope spot. First the use: fun rifle for Long range shooting. Basically 500 yards to 1000 yards, shooting either targets, or Prairie Dogs. Most of my other scopes are Leupold. Several 6.5x20's. I have used these at 700 yards and they leave something to be desired. So...I am looking at higher grade scopes. My ceiling keeps going up. I would love to keep it under $2000. Try explaining that to my wife! I am comparing the NiteForce 5.5-22x50NXS with a zero stop at $1810 vs a S&B 4-16x50mm-PMII. Your web showed a street price of $1944. Any idea where I can get it for that price?
Any thought on POWER, is 16 on the B&S good enough for my use?
How do the scopes compare, given my use.
FYI the rifle looks like it will be 14-15 pounds and I have a 'Stable Table' shooting bench. Obviously I will not be hiking with this rig!
After the scope we can talk base and rings. I know I want from 20-30 MOA ability in the rail.
Lots of questions, anxious to see comments.

the new sightron Slll in 6-24power or the 8-32power. the glass is a tad bit better than nightforce, tracking is awesome and they have between 75 and 100moa depending on which scope.for half of what a nightforce cost the slll is a no brainer and probably the best scope being built in japan right now, hands down the best bang for your buck.

Good information. I need to research.
I want a scope on my rifle to shoot PD's,Prairie Dog) from 500-1000 yards. Concerns: need a MD,not D) reticle, looking for a zero stop.

My most important question originally was on the pricing of the S&B 4-16x50mm-PMII scope. Your web showed a street price of $1944.
Any idea who sells it at that price?

You won't find a S&B pmII for $1944. New they are close to 3k, when you find one used they are around 2500-2700 for a lp version. Occasionally you will see one with moa adjustments for less than 2500 but not often.

The two scopes in comparision are two different animals all together, for long range pdogs the NF will suit you better than the first focal plane S&B. The S&B is a great scope, but IMHO buy the NF for the intended purpose.

Some people like a lot of power some don't, I think that 22x is enough.

I have not used the sightron siii, few threads on that around here.
