Runout of course

I was watching a handloading video by a guy named Birgur Runar Saemundsson. When he checks runout at the end of the video, he puts the dial indicator on the case body just below the shoulder. The cartridge is held on both ends like the Hornady tool. I wonder if this is a better way to check total runout, than reading off the bullet. What do you think? Barlow

IMHO, case runout is one thing. Bullet alignment and bullet runout is quite another. I also cannot see how one accounts for the other.
