running out of h4350, but picked up 8lb imr4350

Shoot h4350 in 2 6.5cm, 2 243 fast twists, and a 260. One creedmoor is sold, the other6.5 cm and 260 are going to stay on h4350. The 243 will make the switch to imr4350 now. I am shooting 107 smk over 42.0& 42.5 h4350 currently,. Is the imr4350 fairly temp insensitive? I have read " yep it is the same as h4350" to "no it is very temp sensitive". I know the charge weights are different, and don't mind working up a new load, just don't want to get a surprise come 110* August

the temp issue really isn't that bad. its only bad for those seeking perfection which doesn't exist. besides, accuracy loads are usually not the max chrg. imr4350 is legendary for 243win. whats you 243win twist?

1-8 Krieger and 1-8 brux. Krieger is 25.5" LV contour on a tikka in whiskey3 chassis. The brux is 24" on a 700 in an AICS.

Great powder for the 243, especially with the heavier bullets; been using it for over 40 years.

I am just about out of H4350 also. I loaded IMR 4350 up as a substitute the other day, same load, and it was 20 fps slower. 142 SMK out of a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Got 5-6 lbs of h4350, 6-7 lb h4895, and 9 lb of h4831sc. I use the h4831 in 2 other243 fast twist that have 28" tubes. Found some targets from load work ups of the tikka. 105 vld and 43.5 gr h4831sc had bugholes but was 75 fps slower then the h4350 load i settled on. That won't be to hard to transition to that load. Taking the 24" 243 out today with some Imr4350 loads, see what they are like. Thanks trapper for the heads up, good to know, will still work up to old velocity /accuracy. The creedmoor i sold is to a friend and promised i would reload some for him. Going to switch to Imr4350 on that rifle for sure, old load is 42.4 gr and 140amax.

1 in 8s.......SWEET! So you'll be shooting long heavy bullets which is where your set-ups should really shine. Are you staying with Bergers or are you going to give the SMKs a go? H4831 does a better job than the SC version for load density in the 243Win case. 1 in 8....oh baby!

The two older 243's are using h4831sc and 105 hunting vld. The tikka, with h4831sc, got better groups with the berger hvld then 107 smk. The current tikka load with h4350 is under the 107 smk. Glad i keep all my load development targets with weather, chrony, and load data written on them. Shot the 24" today with imr4350, old load was h4350(42.5gr) and 107. Fired a 5 shot control of that over the chrony,3090,3096,3099,3102&3098.
Imr4350 41.0-3016fps, 41.5-3047fps, 41.8-3071fps, 42.0-3089, 42.3-3098, 42.5-3113. 41.5, 42.0, &42.3 shot best, liked the speed of the 42.5 load but group was 3/8", the other 3 loads that shot good were in the hi .2s. These were just 3 shot groups, need to load up a bigger sample of those three. Temperature was a muggy 80*.

First 243 i built is a 28" LW barreled savage singleshot, pre target action. I then built a stevens 200 with a 28" brux with a pdc chassis. Both of these shoot h4831sc and Berger h vld. My newer, shorter barreled 243s utilize h4350 and 107 smk. The tikka will switch to h4831sc and Berger h vld, my rem will go Imr4350 and probably stay with 107smk. Got some tuning to do but like what i am seeing. Plus i have equal amounts of smk &Berger, gotta keep everything distributed equally or will run out of bullets next.
