Ruger presetion rifle barrel swap.

Hey guys I am looking to order a a 6.5 cm match barrel. I called around to a bunch of gun smiths but no one has a 6.5mm go/no go gauges whf??? Any one in the Phoenix area know someone who can do it?? If not I'm going to try and do it my self but hate to buy all the tools for it . Thx guys

Any recommendations in barrels?

LRI. Buddy trashed his factory 6.5 Creed. The new LRI was alot easier to develop a new load for as well as more accurate than his factory tube.

I changed my 243 RPR to a 6.5x47 Lapua with a Criterion barrel. IIRC, I saved significant $$$ over another previously mentioned barrel supplier. If you don't want to buy the gauges, just rent them.

How accurate is the criterion barrel?? I was looking at them.

Criterion barrels are very good indeed. I have quite a few on my rifles and I have yet to screw one on that didn't perform consistent with my expectations. My 6mm Dasher Savage PTA/Criterion will shoot in the .1s with its favorite loads, so long as I don't have too much coffee . . . .

It shoots very well. Plenty of groups in the 2's and 3's and even some in the ones. Whenever I shoot and test, I shoot my Shilen barreled Savage PTA custom and they are very close to the same. They are both 6.5x47 Lapuas.

The Criterion barrels used to be part of Krieger. It was their button rifled branch. The gentleman that ran the criterion branch for Krieger, bought everything from them. He and his crew continue to make very good barrels. Most of the employees including the owner, his wife, and daughter all shoot F-class in Wi.
