Ruger Hawkeye Fit & Finish/ Quality Control

Hey guys,

I’ve heard that Ruger has been known to put out some roughly finished products but overall are still rock solid firearms.

Well recently I picked up a Hawkeye Guide Gun in 30-06, I must say it’s a handy looking little rifle.

Upon taking off the factory installed muzzle break I noticed a little cut mark/ blemish on the outside diameter of the barrel, where the muzzle device meets up against the barrel.

Would you guys just chalk this up as an imperfect fit & finish and drive on or would you pursue a warranty claim?

I know it may be a little nit picky but I feel like a rifle $2400 CAD should be top notch as far as fit and finish.

Otherwise the rifle looks great without issue.

Thanks!

I am a Ruger man! Especially when I was running factory guns. I recently bought a Hawkeye "Predator" in 204 and had it directly sent to the shop for bedding and trigger cleanup (if needed). This will replace my other M77MKII 223 as a coyote gun. I love the Ruger's fit to finish.

Even though I have never needed to do a claim, I know they stand behind their product. I wouldn't hesitate one minute calling them and explain your situation, especially for what they sell for these days!

However, for what I see, i don't think I would waste my time.

All very good points!

And to add to it, I’m up here in Canada so I wouldn’t even be dealing with Ruger directly they hire out a third party company.

End of the day it’s a working rifle not a show piece and that blemish will have zero effect on the rifles function.

Disappointing for sure. But if that's all I would not risk sending it back. If it's going to be a hunting rifle there will more nicks to follow, now you don't need to fret about getting the first one. I would reach out and express my feelings given the price point.

They are 2 hours away from me. I would be lucky and could drop it off at their door.
