Ruger American Muzzlebrake

A friend has a Ruger American Rifle that she wants to take muzzlebrake off and install a suppressor. What is proper technique for this or do I need a gunsmith?

Doesn't necessarily require a smith. Cans are screw-on, just like the brake.

You need to check the specs on the RA tenon, and compare them with the specs for the desired suppressor.
Aside from thread pitch/tenon length, check shoulder requirements as well. If you have a mike and calipers it'll be much simpler as you can take your own measurements of the tenon- otherwise you'll probably need to call Ruger.
