ruger 77/22

has anybody had one in 22lr that they got really good accuracy out of it
It depends on what you define as really good. I put on a Shilen barrel, and put it in a Boyds Pro Varmint stock, added a Jard Trigger, and shimmed the bolt, and I can average less than MOA for 5 shot groups over 5 groups at 100 yards with Midas+ and R100. But I don't know if that is really good.

I have a Ruger 77/22 that shoots well. If you are having difficulty with yours, I suggest that you sample a variety of ammo from different manufacturers. Not all ammo shoots well in a given rifle. For example, my Anschutz shoots Winchester Wildcats with extreme accuracy. Who would have guessed that?
Again, try different ammo till you find the one the gun likes. Its out there somewhere.

During the last component and .22 LR shortage emergency I now have probably 10 different brands and types of .22 LR as a result of fear driven buying. This gives me a chance to shoot up 100-250 rounds of each brand at any one time or week. I have a Ruger 77/22 that has a Douglas barrel and a match type chamber and a aluminum tube Weaver T10. The winners at this point are CCI standard velocity,Winchester Power Points, and CCI Blazer. No pricy stuff costing over $10 per 50. We shoot at quarter diameter hard candy targets stuck onto white paper at 100 yards, sort of like shooting clays at 400 yards with a big rifle. The busted up hard candy (Walmart) gets dissolved and might feed ants and other bugs.

The retail .22LR ammo shelves are now sagging with new stock. I like to buy 500 to 1000 having the same brand, type and lot number.

Less than 1 MOA @ 100 for 5 even with fancy ammo is good.

I had the chamber on mine redone so the bullet would engage the rifling when the bolt closed, new sear kit installed, & recrowned the barrel. I had a Leupold 6.5x20 on it for a while and it shot Fiocchi Match ammo great and CCI standard velocity the next best. It' been a while, but iirc 5 shots of the Fiochhi went into a nickel size at 100 yards on a calm day. I have a fixed 4X on it now and it takes care of the red squirrels. Barlow

it would seem that the answer is "NO". The posters here seem to have about enough $$$$, plus the cost of the rifle to start, to have afforded an Anschutz to start with...

Anyone with a 77/22 should consider sending it to Connecticut Precision Chambering for accurizing, Randy does great work and for not much $$. The package includes a target re-crown, machining the slop out of the two-piece bolt, trigger job, and adjust headspace to match your preferred rimfire ammo sample. My group sizes shrank 50% after he did my heavy barrel 77/22, and mine is in 22 Magnum, for which no match-grade ammo is available. I also floated the barrel and glass bedded the action myself.

I have an old style v-block 77/22 and it's the varmint heavy barrel version. The accuracy is pretty solid with cheap ammo from Walmart. It will consistently be below an inch at 100yds. If I shoot Wolf Match Extra, the groups are reduced by about 1/3-1/2. There are a number of things that are out there that can shrink those groups down (like bolt shims, sears etc..), but I am usually shooting the thing from standing or some kind of field position and a 1/8" smaller group isn't that important to me for this rifle. It is my favorite small game rifle. With the big exception of my Vudoo, it's my favorite 22 rifle over all. If anyone has one they don't have feelings for and would like to sell one, let me know.
