ruger 10/22 help

Can anyone recommend what trigger kit I would want to order to put in my 10/22, I have seen so many different ones out there I don't even no where to start to decide. I want it to be drop in, no gunsmithing needed, and Im looking for a 2.5lb pull max. Want to spend $50 bucks or less?
Thanks

Go over to Rimfire Central, http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/ ) and read the Forum posts under actions. Their is a ton of stuff written on getting better triger pull with a 10/22.

I opted for the Clark Custom Guns trigger, http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/1022parts.htm#743 ) when I was using Ruger triggers.

Now I use a KIDD, http://www.coolguyguns.com/ ) as they are so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But they are EXPENSIVE.

My father upon retiring took up gunsmithing and was able to take a standard Ruger 10/22 into him for 60$ and got back a $500 deal. It had a thumbhole glassed stock and the entire action had been redone practically. The Barrel Twistrate is the same as it used to be. But currently I set a pepsi can out at 100 yards with a Nikon New Monarch Scope and can unload a High-Cap magazine and never miss once. The trigger pull on this is .87 pound break. All I can say is that this Ruger 10/22 with Remington Golden Bullets I can buy 550 of them for 10$ and plink all day long for fun and make it as accurate as my Tikka .243 Win. So basically if you mess with a Ruger 10/22 you can get a gun that you can unload forever for a low price and is as accurate as a standard 300$ deer rifle.

I did the trigger on my 10/22 and got it down to 2-1/4#. It takes lots of patience and time because you've got to keep putting it back together each time you stone the sear, but mine's great now and safe too. I may still have the article I followed to do the work if anyone's interested, I'll look for it and can post the URL. Let me know!

The URL is no longer active. Here's the text:
"The standard trigger "features" a heavy, gritty, creepy pull and the light weight of the standard barrel makes carrying easy, but when shooting offhand doesn't provide the stability of even a sporter wieight big game rifle. Volquartsen's drop in hammer replacement is one possible cure for the trigger problem, but a better solution is careful stoning of the sear and a Wolfe spring replacement kit."

That was from Gunsmoke.com in 2003.

I did as recommended on the sear but did not replace the hammer. Go into it with the same attitude I had. ,"If this doesn't work I'll be buying a new trigger group.") The I reset the original barrel. To my discovery accuracy improved drastically by carefully torquing the 2 barrel screws to the same torque a little at a time. As reported before, the trigger job went well. Eley Target Rifle and CCI Velocitor shoot very well, <1" 50 yard groups with the factory barrel. Maybe this summer I'll put on a good barrel and see what this thing can really do.

That original article was 4 pages long. If you want a copy, I'll be glad to mail or fax them.

I have built several 10/22's. If you don't mind just a little creep, simply replace the hammer with a Volquartsen unit. It will drop the pull weight to around 2 to 3 lbs. Take the entire trigger assembly apart and lightly polish the sear, hammer face and pins. It will smooth it up a lot. If you polish more than a little it just makes it sloppy and creepy.

If you want to get rid of all creep, you can make your own adjustable sear with a set screw through the back tab that you can adjust with the whole thing installed and of course there are several ways to remove overtravel.

It kind of all comes down to how handy are you and how much work do you want to do yourself. Here is a good how-to stone your own hammer: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122386&highlight=cletus+hungwell
