RRA Lar15 Lower...6mmbr?

OK. I just bought a Rock River Arms LAR stripped lower yesterday and looking at building a 'different' gun. Well I have looked at the 6.5 grendel, 243wssm, 25wssm and tonight I was playing around my relaoding bench and found one little 6mmbr Remington laying in a box and I thought HEY this is it. So I went to my closet and grabbed an AR magazine and stuck the 6mmbr remington in the mag and WOW it looked good. It is loaded with a Nosler BT don't know the weight of the bullet but the OAL was 2.199'. Man I am so wanting to do this with the 6mmbr Norma/Lapua that I am about to poop myself;-)

Ok So, has anyone done this. My only thought is where am I going to find an bolt carrier with the right 'head'. I found some different places on Google.com that make uppers like Olypic, and DTech and they make the different heads for the WSSM cases so I think this shouldn't be to difficult.

And the .308 head dia. is the same as the 6mmbr 'lapua' brass right? Well close I hope. Since this is an Auto loader I think Small base dies minght be of order or just full length everytime I reload. I plan on shooting the heavy bullets like 105Amax and 107 sierras so I am going with a 22' with break and 1.8' twist. I know this is long and your tierd of reading so What am I to Expect. Thanks. EAGLE, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN D-TECH HAS BUILT SOME OF THOSE RIFLES. SEEMS LIKE I SPOKE WITH A GUY ON HERE A COUPLE OF TIMES CONCERNING THE UPPER AND HE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH IT. SOMETHING ELSE YOU MIGHT CONSIDER WOULD BE ROBERT WHITLEY'S 6MMAR TURBO 40. LOOKS LIKE HE IS GETTING OVER 2900 FPS WITH THE 105 BERGERS AND I DON'T KNOW IF THE 6BR WILL DO MUCH BETTER OR NOT. HIS WEB-SITE IS 6MMAR.COM. JUST MY OPINION. BILL

Well, Yes that is very nice and I have seen it before. But what I want is something that is componet friedly, and readily available. Plus relaoding data is everywhere and the cost of brass is cheap compared to buying 6.5grendel brass at a dollar a piece and necking down. What ever performance I can get out of a 6mmbr auto loader is..well what I get and I learn to work with it. It will be fun.

OH YEA, MAN. IT WILL BE A FINE AR RIG FOR SURE. I WOULD EVEN LIKE TO HAVE ONE MYSELF. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY FROM THE CONVERSATIONS I HAD WITH THAT GUY ON HERE, THE ONLY PROBLEM HE HAD ENCOUNTERED WAS TRYING TO FIND A MAG THAT THE RIFLE WOULD FEED FROM. I THINK HE WAS JUST SINGLE FEEDING AT THE TIME. MAYBE HE WILL READ THIS AND CHIME IN TO LET YOU KNOW WHETHER HE EVER GOT A MAG THAT WOULD FEED PROPERLY. KEEP US INFORMED ON HOW IT ALL SHAKES OUT FOR YOU. THANKS, BILL

The 6BR's out there aren't more 'component friendly' or 'readily avaible' than the 6mmAR or the Turbo 40. The available 6BR's out there use a proprietary upper receiver, proprietary bolt carrier, proprietary barrel extension, proprietary bolt, and proprietary magazines,i.e. that are single round load you have to push one cartridge at a time back in and under the feed lips one at a time intead of just snapping them down from the top like most AR magazines). The 6mmAR and 6mmAR Turbo 40 use all readily available components, parts and magazines that are easy to load, easy to work with and feed reliably. Loading data is also readily available, heck for the 6mmAR Turbo 40 you can use 6BR loading data since the cartridges have the exact same case capacity). My price on Lapua brass for the 6mmAR and Turbo 40 is $69/100 which is the same as Lapua 6BR brass. The body of a 6BR case is short for feeding out of an AR-15 which is why so many have had issues getting them to feed reliably. There is no good brass that's cheap on the marketplace anymore and the 6BR brass that's made by Remington is hard to get and so soft that it's a waste of time and money using it and I don't know anyone who does use it for anything, so you are stuck with Lapua, good stuff) or Norma, also soft brass) which is the same price or more than the 6.5 Grendel Lapua brass.

If you do a 6BR build up, good luck and enjoy it. I have one, it's finicky in feeding and it's no easier to work with than the 6mmAR or 6mmAR Turbo 40. I'm probably going to set the barrel back on it and re-chamber it to a Turbo 40.

OK so...Your right I've done a little more looking and listening and Yep I am going with a 6mmAR. This is what I am looking for and everything is fine.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE 6MMAR. ROBERT IS TOP SHELF WITH EVERYTHING HE DOES. HIS SERVICE IS SECOND TO NONE. BILL
