RPA 2000 bbl tenon

Some are 1.040-16 and others are 1.062-16 thread so be careful. You really need the action to be sure of what you have. Going from memory here! However once you have the action the rest is easy.

Thanks Blair. What I was afraid of was a metric thread. I thought some of the older Quadlocks were metric but not having one I was not sure. My lathe is an old Rockwell. Metrics are aggravating.
Regards, Jack.

Here’s two prints I have for RPA but not sure if it’s the same as the 2000 you asked about.
But it might help someone else.478F0DD6-9E10-477D-85F3-5DD085893638.jpeg

The print above are for a Quadlight, which is a different animal (Remington foot print). "Most" RPA 2000's are the 1.040 x 16, you should be able to confirm this by "rough" measuring the action. In my experience I've never seen a 1,062 x 16 on a RPA, the Millenium action which looks very similar to the Quadlock has 1.062 x 16 tenon. I've never seen a metric thread on these action.

There are a lot more 1.062-16 RPA round actions here in the US. than
1.040's
Having over the years done a few hundred I will warn you to look at the area under where the trigger mounts. I marked them there with the thread size after truing.
The 2000, looking from the rear as delivered always pointed down and to the right towards 4 o'clock. I'm referring to the threads. This was caused by distortion from heat when the forward lug was sweated on.
With the advent of the Quad Lock, that problem went away.

1.040 x 16 was used on Swings.

RPA's were 1.0625 x 16tpi UN.

Thanks to all who have replied to the post and offered help and knowledge. I now have a few more concerns such as the four 0’clock point Alan mentioned.
Regards, Jack.

Robert,
There where a few, early on that had 1.040 that landed here

Allan,
I would not argue on that. as the very few firsts were made from salvaged work-in-progress receivers Swings and /or Paramounts. I would not have imagined those of those having been sent out of the UK?.
