Call it "training materials"... Tax deductable!
To the OP.
I set my Competition barrels back on a regular basis.
It is very easy for me because the way I chamber, it is very easy to set the barrel up in the exact same manner as on the initial chambering job.
It takes me about an hour to set one back. I usually go about .025 the first time just to freshen up the throat.
But, if you are trying to set up a barrel that some else has previously chambered, you have no way of knowing how they set it up, and you might spend considerable time trying to get the darn thing trued up. Or even if the initial chamber is true.
That’s why most will not set back barrels.
I do not chamber barrels the way most do. I use a lathe that has a headstock longer than most barres.Jackie,
Just curious how you setup your personal barrels for an easy set-back. Always nice to see how others do it, if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks, Paul
That's a very generous off you made. Good for you...Send it to me with a 20 dollar bill for return shipping. I'll cut a fresh chamber for ya.
