Rotary Tumbler Recommendation

I have an old vibrating case cleaner with what looks like corn cob media. Works ok, but primer pockets do not clean well (I use a pocket tool), and interior of neck is more carbon stained than I would like. Was looking at the Hornady product (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019544616?pid=750069). Any recommendations? For 223, 6mmBR, 6.5x47, 9mm, 45ACP, and other pistol brass, and maybe 338 Lapua Mag or 300 Norma.

Thanks,

Phil

That looks good. I have been using a Tumbler's Tumbler Model B since 1970 and it works great. One part Simple Green and seven parts water and tumble for two hours. The one you are looking at looks to have an easier lid to deal with, the Model B is not bad but the Hornady looks better.

I have both the Thumlers B and also the Frankford Arsenal...while they are both equal in cleaning aspects, the FA is a lot easier to use in my opinion

I have an RCBS Sidewinder - but not sure they make them anymore(?). When mine dies - I'll probably get the Frankford Arsenal. I have a Thumblers Tumbler and not so hot.

The STM Rebel 17 has served me well for the past 5+ years. Not exactly quiet but a lot more quiet than my friend's FA. I think the Rebel's rubber lined steel drum makes the difference.

I have both models of the FA, the large one will handle 1k of 223 brass which is a lot of brass to deal with at one time, the mini holds 300 223 brass. I prefer the mini due to the smaller batches of brass are easier to deal with IMO, but it does take longer but I'm retired, so..... Also consider the FA media sifter that works on either wet or dry media, really makes separating the SS pins easy, I have not used it on dry media.

My brother gave me a used Dillon tumbler 25 years ago. Will not quit. I clean no less than 2000 rounds per year without a hitch.
Aannndd just jinxed myself no doubt!

This Franford Arsenal works great:

I have a Tumblers that I have used for years with polishers rouge and crushed walnut shell medium. Have a commercial ultrasonic that I use for small batches of brass that I use for bench rest so as NOT to damage the cases by tumbling. They do not get as shinny, but have no damage.

I had a Thumbler's Tumbler first and it didn't work all that well plus a pain to open and close, so I bought the full size Frankford Arsenal unit, the kit with pins and cleaners, and have found it to be much superior in both function and ease of use. Would prefer the small one for most of my use but it wasn't available back then. I have used the tumbler with pins and without, and most of the time just use Dawn & Lemishine without pins and get good enough results. If brass is really dirty, like range brass for instance, pins are the way to go.

I have a Thumbler's Model B. I have a friend who has the Rebel 17. Were I purchasing again I would get the Rebel 17.
