Rock Creek Barrels

Apparently Rock Creek is not takeing orders for any new cut rifled barrels effective Nov 1, 2012. Only order thru bugholes.com will be accepted. Check out the web page for Rock Creek, anyone know the details for this, just spoke with Mike Rock in early October and he was delivering within 6 weeks. Hope there is not any serious problems with those guys, they make a great barrel and enjoy the conversations with Mike.

6 Weeks???? Hmmm I have had an order in since March 19th almost 9 months ago.

Hope it does not end up like my last Bartlein 13 month ordeal.

I ordered a 22 cal. 8 twist mid Sept. and Mike said by end of October it would be done, have not seen it yet. But the wait is worth it IMHO as he is making some nice barrels. He is probably swamped like the rest of the barrel manufacturers.

Ordered a new 6.5 barrel from them back in may and have not a care in the world when it shows as long as it shows before I graduate college in 3 years.

Rock is over loaded with standing orders, and they held off making this move for as long as they could.

As far as I know, bugholes doesn't take orders for Rock's, they just get the "extras" that Rock sends them.

No offense to Mike, but there's no way they can deliver in 6 weeks.

I don't see anything in this thread that is even remotely related to bashing anyone or anything, it is simply a discussion about wheter or not they are in business or overloaded and/ or delivery times!

Did mine in 6 weeks, 6.5 8 twist Mid Sept./delivered Nov 2.

After getting the run around for a year on the same barrel and hearing this I'm pissed, I understand its basically a gift, and I thank all vendors who contribute to the prize tables, at this point I'm writing this barrel off, if it ever shows up I will sell it and use the money to buy another Kreiger.

Kriegers, Bartleins, etc. are available without any wait. There are many sources that carry them in stock, ready to ship. Just bought a new 13.5" 6mm Bartlein, the only "wait" being the time it's in shipping.

Bought another new Krieger 8 twist 6mm from a private seller on this site, met in a face to face transaction. Deal was closed in 3 days, start to finish.

Exactly.....

I live an hour away from the boys at Rock, and shoot Hunter Class with Paul. The last thing I would attempt to do would be to talk badly about them. I was just trying to show a little insight. Not sure how that got misconstrued......

Not sure you should be pissed... Upset maybe if they told you a specific time frame and did not meet that time. I can assure you non of the manufactures are sitting around on there butts drinking coffee and playin cards all day.
I had the same issue with Rock back in the early 2000's when a order took about a year. 9 Same with Bartlein in 2011) It was my first order and I havent been exposed to how it all works and fell into believing that the world jumps at my every whim. Im much older now and understand that these folks are swamped at times. If you happen to catch them on THE barrel that they are making that week you may get lucky and get it just at that time. For example. Say I put an order in for a 7mm, 1:9 twist barrel. And just so happens they are at the end of there 7mm back orders they will go ahead and mine up and send it. Now lets say I just missed there 7mm run by two days and they are doing 30 cal, then 6mm, then 6,5mm then 27cal then 22 cal then rimfire then338 then on down the line till they get back to 7mm again it could take some time.

I ordered two barrels of difrent calibers so I expected it to take some time. Just the nature of the beast and there doing the best they can. Thats why I ordered these WAY in advance of needing them. If I would have been stupid enough to waite till the last second too order shame on me.

This sounds like a good article for the front page so folks ordering barrels understand how it works.

Krieger has a pretty good supply and alot of machines so there turn around some times can be better than the smaller companies at times...They all get back logged at times.

I just hate when they lie to me and say next week... next week.... Next week. Just tell me its going to be a few months.... Im ok with that.

Hope all is well and shoot straight.

I'm not speaking to Rock barrels in particular but to all of "OUR" vendors. I certainly understand that some of these folks are pretty busy and the wait times can be large, I have no problem at all with that. However if they tell me 6 weeks then it damn sure is not pissing and moaning when you complain about not getting your stuff 9 months later.

That's bad business I don't care who it is. Vendors would be very well served by just being up front with there delivery times. If it's going to be a year then guess what you don't have a complaint coming in 6 months, but it should be the customers choice to wait or not to wait.

I'm glad they are making money, very glad. If they don't then they won't be around for any of us to use. I don't know anything about Rock Creek barrels Nada Nothing. I shoot mostly Kriegers and Barleins, not only because they are two of the best barrels out there in my opinion, and my wait time is 3 days. Now if I was silly enough to order from Krieger I believe there latest schedule is around 22 to 25 weeks. Man I'm old I may not have 22 weeks to wait...

Exactly what I said.... and agree whole hartedly.

Bartlein was 13 months behind last year. Guess there caught up now or something. I have noticed that ordering mutliple barrels of Difrent Caliber slow things way down also. Just a thought if your going to order maybe put one caliber per order to speed up the delivery.
