RL 17 with 120s...light-er loads for 7mm08

Alliant website shows RL17 with light bullets ...at 3100+. I would like to try it with a reduced - 2800-2900 loading using Nosler 120 ballistic Tips. Anyone tried reduced loads with this powder? Accuracy?

Thanks.... :)

My 284 didn't care for RL-17 with the lighter 120 grain bullets, neither did my 7 mm SAUM's..
If you need to reduce powder charges for the 7/08 H4895 is your best bet..

I'm using max charges of RL17 with 140 gr bullets and getting good results . as Preacher already suggested , I'm using 39.0 grains of H4895 with 120 ballistic tips in a reduced recoil load for my girlfriend . I was trying to break in the new rifle and do load development at the same time . the three holes not taped over are the first three shot group at 100 yards from this rifle . I need to chrony this load . I'm guessing 2700fps with a 22" bbl .

I've not found any 4895 or I would be using it for my CPT (chicken, pig, turkey) loads myself..... Shooting the TX HP Silhouette Championship match this weekend and "hoping" that the RL17 would be suitable for the light bullet/light loads I can use for the lighter targets.

I think I will just go with my Ram load - 162 AMAXs at 2800 - for all of the targets.... ;D A little more than necessary perhaps but sure makes a chicken leave the rail...... :o

Thanks for your words of wisdom Preacher and Jim.... :)

I tried Hornady Interbond in 154, Speer SPBT 145, and Sierra Game King 150 SPBT all with H414, Reloader 17, Reloader 19, Varget.

Still unhappy with the Tikka as the best groups are 1" groups with Varget? and the Sierra bullets.
