I was building a new 6mm GT from a Remington 700 action, and decided to see what options new options had come out lately for 1-3lb triggers. I came across this Rise Armament Pro trigger with a flat blade on a Memorial Day sale, but couldn't find any end user reviews on this trigger, simply the same information sheet from Rise Armament that was found on their product page. I don't like to wait on certain deals, less I miss on them, so I ordered it for a few dollars less then 160 from Midway.
First look, it was packaged nicely, comes with an assortment of tools under the trigger in a nice little foam cut out. It was nice getting a new trigger pin punch as well as a few assorted Allen wrenches.
Install was pretty straight forward, trigger pins were tight but never snagged. Out of the box the trigger was about 2lb 3oz, without much variance. I didn't change the pull weight for the first range trip, just shooting as it came.
Biggest issue I had with the trigger is the coating they put in the trigger housing. It's tan and feels very gritty, almost like a fresh bed liner spray, and caused nothing but a headache with the bottom bolt release lever. I tried putting a little grease between the bolt release and trigger body, but each and every time I have to reach up and pull the bolt release back down to get it to seat properly. If you aren't using it on a traditional Remington 700, I think it would work great, and it's not enough to cause me a headache, but when you're breaking in a barrel, the bolt comes in and out quite often.
Very impressed with the first range trip, the trigger breaks like fine glass. It's truly impressive. No over travel on the trigger, and even if there is, you can adjust it on the bottom of the trigger.
Trying to get the claimed pull weight was difficult. In I order to get it below 2 pounds, I had to back out the wobbly detent screw even with bolt release button, so it was almost in the trigger guard with my trigger finger. After working the bolt to dry fire and working the trigger adjustment screw back and forth, I finally achieved 1.5lbs and called it a day.
I shot it yesterday next to my TT special, which took less than a minute to get exactly 1.5 lbs, and compared side by side. The RA felt amazing to me, and the TT was like a comfortable memory, they broke very similar to me. I like the straight trigger design more as of now, but I like the reliability the TT provides.
I would recommend, just know going in there's going to be a few things you may not enjoy. I think my dislikes will shrink with more time behind it.
